Michelangelo’s
Mates is an exciting new Social Enterprise launched by Avalon in
collaboration with East North East Homes Leeds (ENEHL).
Avalon is a northern-based, not-for-profit organisation and
registered charity, which provides a range of services and
training to support people with disabilities, mental health
issues, and older adults.
ENEHL
is a (ALMO) arm length property management organisation, part of
Leeds City Council, responsible for 19,500 properties in parts
of Leeds (Harehills, Seacroft and Chapeltown),Wetherby and
Boston Spa.
As a sub-contractor of
ENEHL,
Michelangelo’s Mates provides a quality painting and decorating
service;
- on behalf of tenants who are unable to do so through illness or
disability,
- on empty properties in preparation for new tenants,
- following repairs or new kitchens/bathrooms carried out by
ENEHL.
This scheme replaces the Decorating Grants and vouchers given
out by ENEHL.
Michelangelo’s Mates consists of a small team of people,
supported by Avalon, who will train as apprentices in painting
and decorating, under the guidance of Project Co-ordinator, Paul
Deane. Completed work is also quality-checked by
ENEHL
personnel. |
